Halloween Hippies

Happy Halloween! Andrew and I decided to go as hippies this year. We had a wee party last night at my friend Katie’s! We won best costume and a bottle of wine, so exciting, and we also carved a fox and owl pumpkin! It turned out great.

I took this with my phone, it stood up to the photo test pretty well this time. Andrew and I were impressed! We haven’t tried the wine yet but I’m hoping it will be wonderful.

We also had a mini photo shoot today with our costumes on. I got really tickled at work on Friday… we had our Halloween party at school right? So I come in dressed like this (see photos) and everyone looks at me and says, “So, Shannon… what are you?” It was too funny. I have feathers in my hair and a daisy chain on my head and a flower painted on my face. Apparently I can pull this off at any given time.

Awesome!

So, here are a few from the shoot today. Freaking love how Andrew looks!

Life is good. I hope you’re dress up weekend has been as great as ours! We’re looking forward to candy and movies tomorrow! Not scary ones though, simply because I don’t do scary movies.

So… Friday is soon, right?

Hi friends! Can we talk about how ready I am for Friday? Seriously.

We’re having a Halloween party in our wee classroom tomorrow! I can’t wait to see all our kids dressed up. I think, since Halloween is SO not a favorite of mine, I look forward to seeing the kids dressed up because it brings back the sweet innocence of the holiday, when it was a thrill to dress up and pretend to be something fun and eat TONS of candy. I, by the way, will be a hippie. Not like that is hard for me, but I’m super excited about it!

After work Andrew and I are going to another party at our friend Katie’s house. We’re going to be an old married couple. It was totally my mom’s idea. Not. Even. Joking. She just called me up and got really excited about how she had figured out what we needed to be. It was pretty much amazing.

I’m hitting a couple of local thrift stores this afternoon to see what I can find for our costumes. Any excuse to go thrifting right? I’m so stoked!

Monday, monday

Oh. My. Word.

It’s been over a week. I’ve been remiss! And busy.

Update: Andrew’s 4runner is out of commission until he can fix it (hopefully today) and we’re relying on my very not reliable turquoise bullet. Prayers are VERY much appreciated as we’re down to basically half a car at this point.

I have to say, that if his car was going to die at least it died in our friend, Ben’s yard. He lives waaaaay out in the tulies among barns and pastures. It’s like magic. I love it. And after spending two afternoons/evenings I’m very glad that it’s a lovely place. I also caught around 1458.3987530.03846780 crickets and grasshoppers. But, not the big ones. They’re creepy and bigger than my hand, so I’m out on those. I also saw a hawk, a white cow, and a listening tree. MAGIC!

Yesterday was our three month anniversary, so we celebrated with McDonalds at 8:00. I think a do-over is in order!

Ms. Libby has recommended the book, Eat, Pray, Love to me. It’s so good so far, it’s one of those books that you have to approach with an open mind. Except Libby and I. Simply because we’re the only two people we know who are totally taken by someone who’s mind works like ours. Until I discovered Andrew’s mind is like that too! To my delight we’ve been reading the book aloud to each other. I think it’s the most delicious sacrifice of time and effort a person can make, to read aloud. So, wonderful!

One quick and final note before I’m off to work – if you’re a coffee lover, you have GOT to check out Starbucks’ natural infusion coffee. The cinnamon is our absolute new favorite! And, if we can’t buy local for coffee we suck it up and get Starbucks… which for now, we’re okay with.

Happy Monday!

Weekend Recap

Hiya! We had such a grand weekend! We spent Friday on the parkway photographing EVERYTHING and ended up having a very late dinner of McDonald’s with my brother at work. We spent Saturday with each other, relaxing on the porch and reading. Our friend Jeff came over and played with us for a little bit too! Sunday was filled with The Vine, family and photographs. We had our first mini shoot (which was mostly play – SO fun!!!) at one of our favorite spots with some of our favorite people. Here is a peak of the shoot…

We had a blast! Nathan and Taylor were a lot of fun to work with. I can’t wait to really sink our teeth into the market here and get busy with some super fun people and amazing photos!

We have blue tick and plott hounds right next door to us. Can we talk about how great their wee barks and howls are? I’ve wanted some kind of coon hound for as long as I can remember. I’m pretty sure she’ll be a blue tick and I’ll name her Daisy (since daisies are my favorite). Ah, it’s a pink sunset tonight. Pink sunsets are my favorite, they’re like a gift just for me. Andrew feels the same way about orange sunsets. We’re working on a new project which is exciting and scary all at once. I think we’ll have something to show for it before Christmas!

I’m inspired and in the mood to create! I think some proper time with my sewing machine is in order!

As always, if you’d like to see more of our photo shoot head on over to our website and check it out!

Happy Monday Eve!

Buttons!

I’ve been working and working to make buttons for our photography page! So excited! There are two so far, and more to come. I’ll make some specifically for shannonbear just for fun! The photography buttons were our main concern and I think they look great! They’re off to the side at the top right of the page. To grab one all you have to do is copy and paste the html code into the html/java portion of your website or blog! Fist pumps for even more (pretty and fun) progress!

In the mean time Andrew and I watched Garden State tonight. It was my first time seeing it and I LOVED it! Such an amazing story line and the soundtrack… are you kidding me? Iron and Wine + The Shins. I’m. So. There. Andrew actually said he listened to the soundtrack first and that made him want to watch the movie. I recommend it.

No really. Go watch it.

Bookmarks, Pictures and the like

Andrew texted me at work today and asked me to make him a bookmark.

1- I flipping love how random my husband is!
2- Any excuse to paint!

I’m glad to say that it turned out how I hoped even though I wasn’t sure what I really wanted it to look like… does that make sense? Have a lookie:

He loves it, which makes me love it, which makes us happy. Yes, there is a fox and an owl in the tree. We just can’t help it! The back says “nature never did betray the heart that loved her” from Wordsworth.

You know, owls are my favorite and I’m completely in love with like this wee one here

How precious is she?! She’s from a blog I really enjoy – Skunkboy Creatures. There are soooo many sweet little owls, elephants, dinos, and hedgehogs she makes. Go take a look and have your heart warmed!

Last but not least Andrew and I have FINALLY gotten our pricing & packaging page the way we want it! It’s very tailored to our vision for the business in terms of language (we have actually packages now, which are titled “Kit” – baby fox- “Owlet” – baby owl – and “Fox & Owl”). They are quick and concise on what exactly to expect and amenities they each include! Of course, we’re open to our clients tailoring their package to suit them if they see something they want or something they don’t want. We’re so excited to see it finally come together in a way that reflects our style and vision! We’ve also added to our “Meet Your Photographers” page and added a small business page! Go check it out at Fox & Owl Photography!

I’m calling it an early night and going to get in bed and read my book and go to sleep before 11! I can’t wait. Plus, it’s supposed to be in the low 60’s tomorrow! Thank goodness fall is finally showing up again… maybe now I can put my summer clothes away? One can only hope!
