Thrifting!

I went thrift shopping with my friend Leslie today! We need a few more things for the house and with so many great thrift shops in the area, Leslie suggested a little outing. I found some super cute things!

This sweet daisy trivet, Leslie is modeling for me! How flipping cute is that?! Total 60s and made in Japan!

And this sweet little daisy apron! It was made in the 70s. I couldn’t resist!

I’m researching a little more for our honeymoon tonight! Cannot wait to head out of here for a while with my lovely Husband! Happy evening!

Tomorrow

I am finally wedding my beloved tomorrow in one of my favorite places in the world with some of my favorite people in the world. I think all of the stress, tears, blood, fights, etc that go into planning a wedding make it worth it in the end. I’m hoping for a beautiful day tomorrow – maybe a little sprinkle just because it’s fun and A and I love rain. We’ll see what we’re blessed with!

I’ll be back with photos eventually. We are thinking of a small honeymoon to Savannah, GA and a second honeymoon to Europe later. Any suggestions for things to see/do/thrift in Savannah? Leave me a comment! I would love to know!

Whew! I’m an almost Mrs.!!!! Holy crap!

Happy Weekend, friends!!

I may need to vent for a second…

Our little black stove blew up today.

Blew up.

Yep, you read that right. Smoke, fire, scary, smoke detector, me screaming, Andrew with eyes wide, dogs barking, cats meowing.

It’s been a hell of an evening.

Good news? No one was hurt! AND we have 3 days before the wedding. Things are falling into place and we have been blessed with lovely friends who are going to house sit while the repair people come to fix our stove. I am baking practically all day tomorrow because we are having cupcakes rather than a wedding cake. I’m kind of excited!! I love baking. Especially if I’m feeling stressed out or down about something. Stress is the emotion of the day apparently!

Right now we are trying to keep our heads above water as we deal with pre-wedding family drama and small details! Is it like this for everyone?

A confession

I must confess that I am totally addicted to chips. I don’t know what the deal is these days but potato chips just make me happy in my heart.

I think these

are totally my favorite. The ultimate comfort food.

Thank God for yoga and running and blue berries or I would be 6,000,000,000 pounds! Ah!

The tale of no wine opener

Whew! This moving thing is crazy! We are slowly slowly getting settled, we’re just so so blessed!

Last night we wanted to open the wine that we’ve been saving for ages. We got the bottle before he left for Africa and decided to save it until we moved into our place. Well that would have been last night.

So here we are amidst boxes and trash bags with a few things in order waiting for our wine. But we have no wine opener. So what do we do?

Said wine bottle, for which we have no opener.

Andrew says, hey what about a drill bit? Brilliant!

Except that it didn’t work… it merely bored a hole in the cork. Lame. So…

Andrew grabbed a screw and screw driver to attach the resistant cork.

So with great strength and faces of determination….

Huzzah! Fist pumps and high fives all around! The silly cork was pulled out and we enjoyed our much anticipated wine on the front porch in rocking chairs and $1 margarita glasses from Walmart!

I pretty much love the adventures of moving in and living together!

We come back to heal ya – janglin soul!

Moving

Oh, we are moving in this weekend!

It’s so nice to finally have our own lovely space! We have had the most wonderful support from our family and friends! So many great things have been donated to us – table and chairs & a couch. We’re just in the process of finding creative ways to store things in our kitchen – any creative storage suggestions? We need them! I’ll have pictures posted soon, we don’t have internet at our house yet so we’re going to random places to find it.

Happy weekend!

I think I’m in love

Chalkboard paint might be one of my favorite things ever!! I had it in my class room when I was teaching pre-school and my kids looooved it. Plus it was too precious to walk in and see their sweet little hand prints and random drawings on our chalkboard cloud.

Since we’ve FINALLY gotten a place to stay we’re thinking of making a chalkboard wall… Downside – we can’t paint (that we know of) so I’m thinking a piece of sanded plywood or something and making it an amazing addition to our wee house!

I’m thinking there might be a theme coming on – like “Things I like Thursday” or “Freaking Fun Friday”… thoughts? I don’t like way cute titles so it will have to be more funky than that but it might be fun.

I’m loving these ideas for a chalkboard wall-

I think the green might be my favorite color for a sweet little chalkboard. Hopefully it’s a wee dream that we can bring to reality to make our new house a home! And… hopefully I’ll have pictures too! Perhaps a before & after session is in order!

The Cake

No really. It’s THE CAKE!

Okay, we have news. Big news. We found a place to live! After months, and I mean months quite literally, we have found the sweetest wee place to live! So so so so so blessed! The lease will be faxed (from Texas, how exotic) tomorrow to the office and we shall begin signing, crossing and dotting. I’m SO FREAKING EXCITED!

So, we decided to celebrate with the cake. I believe I have mentioned said cake before, but it’s heaven in your mouth. Andrew and I have taken up baking in the middle of the night- it’s kinda great.

We are off to enjoy! Goodnight!

Oh, Chuck Norris

Hola Amigos! Holy flipping cow – we watched Walker Texas Ranger today. Do you remember that show? I’m not even joking.

We watched it. And we liked it.

What the heck? Suddenly all of those Chuck Norris jokes seem totally justified. The man is unstoppable!

Our invitations are FINALLY in the mail. We have like 12 days until the wedding and just now got the invites in the mail.

We. Freaking. Rock.

Thankfully everyone who needs to know, already knows. Maybe we really do rock?

I’ll be back later with some fun photos! For now: Chuck Norris can win a game of connect 4 in 3 moves.
